Phew! We're so relieved to finally have an future address in Memphis. We went out there house hunting the first week of June, but came home empty handed. We continued the search by internet and phone. Our chant this week has been "I love technology. I love you, but I still love technology..." Did you know that you can get a flyby bird's eye view of all four sides of most homes at maps.live.com? So, we're buying this house sight unseen, but we feel like we have a pretty good idea of what we're getting.
We originally wanted a home with a pool But it turns out that a totally glutted home market with 10,000 homes could not deliver us what we want. Are we picky or what? It had to be the right school district, and have a space for Clint's shop. That narrowed it down to two homes. The first was sold before we could get to it (so sad!), the second was in such a tight back yard you couldn't even put a fence around it let alone a safety cover. The other 10 were way above what we want to pay. Of course the million dollar homes always have everything you want! :) So we decided to buy a house with a pool and add an extra garage, or one with a garage and add a pool. This house is what we came up with. I think it's lovely and it's got an attached 2-car garage and a second detached garage.
But best of all is the location! It's less than a mile to Joey and Katie's house, and a bit farther to church (and the temple, which is on the same lot as the church), school and the gym. Yay!

Nice looking house. Congrats. The question is, does it have enough room to host the York's if we come to visit?
That is a gorgeous house! I hope Memphis welcomes you with open arms!

3400 sq feet. Yup. One dedicated guest bedroom, one part time guest bedroom, and a big bonus room for kids, once I get done finishing it.
The only issue is that it's a 2.5 bath. There are two expandable spaces upstairs. Have to see what I can do about that.
I remember your comment about the benefits of the 10-minute swim before going to bed to cool off. I eagerly anticipate being able to do that. Especially in the lovely mid-South climate.
WE ARE SO DANG EXCITED FOR YOU!!! (this is katie posing as j to the oey)
soooooo hot right now!
Impressive. It looks lovely. I look forward to visiting Memphis, getting some take-out barbeque ribs and bringing them back to your pad for a Cities and Knights tournament.
But how close is it to Graceland??? It is gorgeous, what is its name? Don't all those Southern houses have names? I think you should name it "Jessica"
Love the house!! Glad you finally got a contract and can stop stressing about it.
WOW. It looks beautiful! We will have to come stay in your guestroom. The Nelson Suite, right?
Hi Sarah!
I love your blog! Congratulations on your home and new baby. What an exciting time for your family. It was so fun to see your pictures. We miss you, and hope you are doing well.
