Pool Update
I love Memphis. It's June 1st and our pool is 92 degrees top to bottom! We are really enjoying it. Almost every time we open the cover 4-8 additional boys from the neighborhood appear. Some of the older boys have demonstrated lots of cool skills and games for our boys to imitate. On day 2 of swimming Cole and Talmage both jumped off the diving board and swam the length of the pool. I was holding that as a goal for them by the end of the summer. We have also enjoyed the couple of times we've had the pool all to ourselves. Tonight we swam just as a family. Over the course of the 2 1/2 hours, Cole over came his fear of the deep end and swam across it countless times. And Talmage mastered surface diving down to the drain cover at the bottom of the pool--9 feet down. We were so impressed. Then he began fetching Clint's soft dive weights from down there. He may be skinny but he's getting to be a strong swimmer and we're starting to see some muscles! Jack is the most daring jumper of all the boys. He's still wearing a floaty but I think he might discover soon he doesn't need it. Trace's job is to throw things into the pool and he takes it very seriously. At the end of the night Clint said, "Boys that was our family night." Cole said, "But we didn't do any church stuff." I said, "Here's the church stuff: Our family is forever, so we'd better like each other now." They agreed.

you guys are way too nice to let all the neighborhood boys join in EVERY day... and you end up feeding a lot of them dinner too don't you? but i'm glad they are teaching your boys neat tricks. sounded like you had a blast tonight. definitely a nice bonding FHE. I love the "but we didn't do any church stuff" comment. :-)
We are experiencing the usual May Gray! Hopefully next May we will be able to have the same FHE in our own pool. I'm impressed with the boys being able to swim, we spent a small fortune to get our boys pool safe.
I LOVE your lesson plan! I'm going to have to borrow a page out of your book! I agree...you are a WAY nice mom!
We swam at Grandma's pool for FHE last night. Great minds...
I love it when the kids learn to swim by themselves, ride a bike, lose a tooth, etc. Spencer just learned the two wheel bike thing last week. We are still working on swimming with him. Right now we are still being aided by a noodle.
you are WAY nice. i hope having a gajillion extras doesn't stress you out or that their parents will come and supervise their own kids sometimes. what a wonderful memory maker your pool is and will be!
A dip in a pool sounds so nice! There are many times that we declare whatever we just did "family night." Then Chloe says, "But we didn't do a treasure hunt!"
hey, where'd that den mother post go? i loved it! you inspire me.
Yeah, I was gonna comment and everything.
I just got called into Primary again. Get to see my kids every Sunday.
Well now I hope you start your own swimming lessons class! I'll sign my girls up for sure.
