Small Miracle

I think I've mentioned before that when we go for a family swim, Trace occupies himself patrolling the deck. His personal mission is to throw all objects into the pool. The brothers call this a game of "dropsy." Last weekend after a really great family swim I looked into the pool and shouted, "CAMERA!" Trace had dropped the digital camera into the pool and it had been there for who knows how long. I'd left it on some bales of cedar bark on the deck. I removed the battery, which had died earlier in the evening, and Clint put it in his shop on a shelf near his dehumidifier. And wonder of wonders--2 days later it works completely. Phew! We were so not ready for another $500 kick in the wallet.

Ooh, I was worried when you started talking about the pool that it was a kid who went dropsy! But I'm glad your camera is all right. And your kids.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear it. I was so sad for your camera. Oh, and I like the term "kick to the wallet" - that's funny.

This reminds me of when I slid into the Grover waterfall during Girls camp with my new camera in one hand and my new video camera in the other. The camera survived. The Video camera died. Glad yours survived!

My younger sister is constantly washing her cell phone. We learned that if you put an electronic device rice it will also dry out well and still work amazingly! I like your method sounds faster and cleaner.

I really hope it lasts... Not to be a downer, but I let my digital camera have a bath in rainwater in June. Its flash was broken right away, but I thought it was fine otherwise. It lasted a couple of months, but now it's mostly refusing to turn on.
