Jack Diving Class - July 2015

Jack loved taking a break from swim team to work on some of his sweet diving skills. He entered the class being able to do a front flip with a full twist. Unfortunately, the class didn't get even to that level.

Feathering the Nest - July 10, 2015

Our first weeks in our new house we had 100-plus temperatures every day and the air conditioning didn't work! Sounds like a good day to go to a nice air-conditioned furniture store! You know we're short on entertainment when we spend an hour in the massage chairs at RC Willey. But seriously, if you ever want some free fun, this is it!

 I think the stretching mechanism on this one worked really well on Cole. He grew like six inches after this!

Ruth and Nathan Hale Reunion July 3-5, 2015

I wish I loved taking pictures because I have so few pictures of the 120 Hales that attended our first large get together in a decade! It's an indication of a wonderful absorbing time: talking to cousins, loving on nieces and nephews, being loved by aunts and uncles...that you just don't think of taking pictures, you are enjoying the moments too much. Wendy made it memorable by producing over a 100 T-shirts for us to where at the Torrey 4th of July Parade.

New Home, New View - July 3, 2015

I love that when I stand on my front porch I can see Mt. Ogden - the peak that hangs over my alma mater, Weber High. It's nice to be back in the top of Utah.

Trace Learns to Ride a Bike June 19, 2015 9:17 a.m.

I posted the actual time because, at the old age of seven. It took this boy about five minutes to learn how to ride a bike. It took four years to convince him to try. Trace told me that morning, "I ride scooters. I've been riding a scooter all of my life!" And that is true. He had gotten his balance to the point that he could get all the way to school, five blocks away, with one push. It was down hill all the way. The only tricky thing for him was figuring out how to pedal with both feet at the same time.

New Windows! April 12, 2016

We had all the windows on the south side of our house replaced. They had no solar coating and they were of such poor quality that when it rained, water dripped through the windows! We immediately felt a difference inside and were able to postpone turning on the AC for another three months. They used to be divided vertically and were cheap looking and had broken brown blinds. I like this a lot better! Yay for blue sky! Here's how it looked before:

Farmington Cabela's Grand Opening - April 21, 2016

Farmington just keeps on getting better! We took the shuttle bus from the Legacy Center to the store, but we could have walked. We got there right at opening and happily let all the campers from the night before enter the store and get the free stuff. But we still scored because Clint got some primers, which are hard to find, and we got samples of jerky, cinnamon nuts and fudge. I call it a win, and a fun activity for one of Jack and Trace's day's off school.

Talmage Honored at FJHS - May 27, 2016

We got an invitation to a breakfast awards assembly at Talmage's junior high and we invited Grandma and Grandpa Hale to come. It was a superlative awards assembly where kids were honored for being "Wonderfully Wonderful at Math" and "Trying Hard in Science." Some were really funny like, "Feel Free to Leave Your Stuff in My Room Because You're a Great Student Award" And "Water Cyclation Award," -- I guess someone was going to the bathroom too often? Talmage got the Encyclopedia of Mythology Award from his resource teacher Patty McCarthy, which of course was very apt. His friend Jared, our backyard neighbor, got the "True Gentleman Award," which also fit perfectly.

Farmington Bay Bird Refuge - May 12, 2016

One of my favorite things about Farmington, is a bird refuge that is just a mile away. It makes my early morning run breathtaking. I've seen blue herons, a muskrat, yellow-winged blackbirds, red breasted blackbirds, loons and many birds I cannot identify.

These are all Blue Heron.

Jack's Spring Recital- May 19, 2016

I really enjoy Lori Kellet's piano recitals. This one should have been a bit rough as she had had shoulder surgery and no one had had lessons for three weeks. But it was fantastic! She really gets accurate timing out of her students. She told the parents at the recital that as "The truth shall make you free,"so also does "Timing Make You Free." Once you master the timing in a piece, you are free to play expressively!
