Grover Trip 1- Riding the Burr Trail

Our first trip to Grover this year we enjoyed the company of Scott and Cara Lafferty's family, and an overnight visit from the Merrills! The first morning we wanted to ride the Burr Trail and knew it was going to be about a five-hour adventure. So we left Trace in the care of Uncle Scott to enjoy ranch walks with cousins Allie and Snack.
Gorgeous vista from the Burr Trail switch backs.
Appa--taking us wherever we want to go.
Small arch.
We stopped at the Strike Valley Overlook trail head to eat a little lunch and were immediately bombarded by swarms of irritating insects. We retreated to the car for a reprieve. Then we got up our courage and hit this short 10-minute trail, the bugs pursued us every step.
I have never seen the dessert in such full bloom, thanks to the torrential spring we've had. Prickly pear.
Indian paintbrush.

Cairns. We had to teach the boys not to kick these over!

This view took my breath away! In my top three panoramas I've ever seen.
We stopped at the Anasazi National Monument and the boys loved exploring this replica building.
This is the overlook from the top of boulder.
