This trip to Grover was for the Hale Reunion, which always has to feature an epic hike. This fit the bill. The extra young and extra old had to have a boost up to get into Peekaboo slot canyon.
Aunt Karen--always glamorous.
A tight squeeze, even for the smallest hiker.
I absolutely depended on Hudson and Gabriel Mckay to help keep track of my boys. In the canyons you could only see the person immediately in front of you and behind you. The other McKay boys were busy helping my sisters with their kids. You can never have too many strapping Mckay boys around.
Miss Evelyn
How wide was the canyon? As wide as Rosie's hips. The canyon felt like a natural playground for the kids, although, they may not have understood the point of the exercise. At this point Rosalie asked Edith, "When are we going to get there?"
Jenny rescued a bird that fell into the canyon.
We hung out in this sliver of shade for 30 minutes before taking on the open desert for the 45 minute hike out. By this time we were mostly out of water, though we brought a ton. It was a fantastic hike and no one died, so it was a success!

the extra old! ha ha ha! i hope aunt karen doesn't read your blog. you're so funny. she sure seems like a young soul, doesn't she? that was so fun, even though we almost died.
Yay! No one died. I sure felt sick from that heat though. Bleaaaagh. And that ride back until we got to the gas station was a long, long ride for a very uncomfortable me. But, oh yeah - the slot canyons were beautiful!
