Papa and Grammy Cresap are here for the week. Papa is great to have around because he comes, he grocery shops and cooks many of the meals while he's here. Last week he made "Blasted Chicken"--whole chickens cooked in the oven at a very high temperature. It may have been the first time in Jack's memory that his chicken looked so bird-like.
He demanded to know, "Who captured these birds?! "
Us: "Papa captured them at the grocery store."
Jack: "Why did these chickens have to die?"
Us: silence (because they taste so good?)
Jack: "You should not eat the birds! You should love them!"
Man, we feel like scum. (But we noticed, he did eat them, too.)

Who captured these birds!!! So funny! I never thought of them as birds really. I love the perspective! Wish I had beeen there. Your kids don't know us. so sad for them =) so sad for us =(
