A Tale of Tal's Birthday Party

A couple of weeks ago we started to put together Tal's guest list for his Star Wars Clone Wars birthday party. He wanted to invite two girls and a boy from his school class plus our neighborhood gang of boys. I asked him to ask the two girls from his class for their phone numbers, as we already had the boy's phone number. That afternoon he emptied his backpack of 10 slips of paper, 9 girls names and one boys name. Our Tal is certainly not shy. He has blackbook skills. So, when I took the cupcakes in for his class the kids were all talking about the party. At that point I knew we had to invite the whole class. This is the invite I sent out. The party was scheduled for Good Friday at 10:30 a.m., as it was a no-school day. For activities we did our traditional balloons in the tramp event, Jedi Master and Apprentice relay races and hit the pinata with the light sabers. I sewed up 8 simple Jedi cloaks for our guests, our boys and the neighbor boys had their own. The boys all seemed to have fun, but it was a quite chaotic with 12 boys and one girl running all around with lightsabers. About at the mid-point, Tal started removing himself from the party, it was just too overwhelming. He said, "There are too many kids." We didn't blame him. In fact, after 2 hours we began politely sending boys back to their homes, we were spent. Next year we'll have to think of a more sleuthy way to get those phone numbers!

Really. You are SUCH a cool mom. I've always been impressed with you how you keep up with all the latest "boy contraptions" and educate yourself in dinosaurs, legos etc. etc. That equals super duper cool mom. When your kids talk to me about the latest things they are into. I feel like they are speaking a different language and that I'm so out of the loop. They patiently explain to me to help me catch up. :-)

Where do you get the energy? I love the one girl who arrived in a pink dress, awesome.
When and where is he getting baptised? Tell him happy b-day from the Manning boys.

How fun! I wonder if I will ever have the energy to do big themed b-day parties like that. I feel tired. (PS - I don't know if I've ever seen Clint with so much facial hair!)
