Saving the Earth (and girth), Part Time
So, while risking venturing into the realm of TMI, I thought I'd share my new diet. Well it's really the only diet I've ever been on as an adult, as I've never been able to stick with one before. I read about it in the Reader's Digest. It's billed as "Simple till Six" or Vegan AND no sugar or refined grains like white flour and white rice, before dinner time. After six, you get to eat whatever. I thought this sounded really fun because I have many close friends who are vegetarians and I always thought it looked fascinating, but couldn't see how I could combine that with my family life. So instead of eating chicken nuggets and hot dogs with my preschoolers, I'm making oatmeal for breakfast and lentils or Tabouleh for lunch. I feel so hoity-toity healthy and yet I get no complaints from the family as dinner is normal fare. When I add the stipulation of no eating after dinner I see the weight going down. I've lost about 8 pounds since Christmas--about 1/2 my leftover baby weight that hadn't budged in 10 months. I do switch up the non-vegan meal when I make a special breakfast or go out for lunch. And I take a day break every week or so. I'm looking at this as a long-term lifestyle, so I'm trying not to be too odious about it. I thought I'd just pass this along because I'm really enjoying it and it's nice knowing I'm definitely getting enough fruits, vegatables and whole grains in my diet.

That's fabulous Sarapoho! I wouldn't of thought you needed to lose 8 pounds, let alone 16? I do think that is a great way of eating. I think processed stuff is really bad for us! Keep up the good work!
I look forward to days when I can eat grains early.
oohwee! good for you! you are so diligent.
We LOVE tabbouleh at our house. We have a good recipe for lentil curry (but it's more of a dinner thing). I'd love some of your other daytime recipes for lentils or other grainy/vegetably eats!
Me too, I would like some of your recipes.
